Regular Mail or In-Person
Receive your paper bill at your home, and mail your payment in the envelope provided, postage required, or bring your payment to our administrative office. Call or drop by our office any month to pay by check; use your Mastercard, Visa, or Discover card.
You can also call or drop by to authorize MGED to use your credit card for automatic payments each month.
Drop off a Payment in a Paybox
Drop off a payment in one of MGED’s payboxes. Payments may be dropped off at any time at locations outlined on our Places to Pay page for pickup the next day. Include checks and your payment stub in the envelope mailed with your bill - no postage is needed, however, do not send cash, please.
Third-Party Pay Services
If you use an outside service to pay bills, such as having your bank send a check, there could be a delay of several days for processing and mailing. Be sure not to lose your Prompt Payment Discount by planning to pay ahead.
MGED will never charge you a fee to pay your bill - if you are charged a fee to pay your MGED bill you may be paying through a non-MGED site.
Other Payment Resources
Easy Budget Payment Plan
If you want to level gas and electric costs, our Easy Budget Payment Plan may be able to help. Based on your past energy use, the Plan spreads utility costs evenly over a 10-month period from September to June. Any balance or credit is then addressed in July and August. To be eligible, your account must be current, have a one-year history of service at this location, and you must agree to make monthly payments on or before the normal discount date. Apply by completing the Budget Billing Online Application.
Third-Party Notification
If you want bills sent to someone else to help you keep track of them, you can ask us to send your bill to a third party. Or if you are concerned about a relative or friend, you can be designated a third party to receive their bills. The third party is not responsible for the bill, but can help make sure each payment is applied to the account correctly and on time. Please contact us directly at 508-947-1371 to set up this service.
Gift Certificates
Available in any amount, gift certificates can be used to credit any MGED account for any use or service. Just drop by our office or call 508-947-1371 to wrap up your gift-giving in this thoughtful and convenient way.
