Energy Guide is Not Energy Star

Energy Star Label

We are alerting our customers that the yellow Energy Guide label, attached to most new appliances only tells how much energy an appliance uses to compare one model to another. This yellow label, alone, does not ensure that the appliance is Energy Star rated. To confirm that rating, the guide needs to contain an Energy Star logo, usually in the lower right corner.

An Energy Star logo identifies appliances that meet specific efficiency standards. If you want to take advantage of MGED's appliance rebates, you need to make sure your new purchase carries the Energy Star logo - not just the yellow Energy Guide label. Recently some customers have been disappointed to learn that their purchase did not qualify for a rebate. ALWAYS ASK the salesperson if your appliance is Energy Star qualified before you buy. Only Energy Star appliances qualify for MGED rebates.
