Middleborough Gas and Electric customers are getting a growing amount of their power from clean energy resources. That includes zero-emissions local solar, Maine wind, New York hydro power and New Hampshire and Connecticut nuclear. Clean power resources are generators that are carbon-free and don’t produce greenhouse gas emissions by burning fossil fuels like oil and coal. The latest power portfolio review shows that about 70% of power purchased was generated by these carbon-free sources.
MGED has been increasing our supply of renewable energy as more sources have become available in the past decade. This includes buying over 7 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year from the Saddleback Ridge windfarm in Carthage, Maine beginning in 2015.
